But first some news, we have decided to suspend the manufacture of the Bolly "Speedrotor" Heli Blades. To understand more, read the below history of Bolly Helicopter Rotor Products.
A History of Bolly (Model) Helicopter Rotor Blades.
In about (we forget) 1980 - 1982 Bolly had developed the World's best Model Helicopter Rotor Blade. It is a tall statement, but it is true. Unfortunately very few people ever got to see it, and due do the complexity of manufacture (no lead inserts were allowed back then), it was uneconomical, and we sold the tooling. We never saw another blade, and unfortunately we never kept a sample. To this day I believe it would hold its own for performance.
We forgot about making Heli products until one of our staff took up Heli flying to become an extreme 3D expert. Still we resisted as the mathematics told us it was not a viable proposition with Australian wages. That was until we had an offer to go to China, to develop a product range there. It was all too tempting, and we did just that.
We deliberately started slow, and through some extensive testing derived at a unique tapered blade design and airfoil that featured on our original 1980 product. It was a real winner, with one of the biggest names in Heli reporting to us the CJ-700M was perfect for F3C. The below list of products was the result from there, with new sizes popping out every month, but ....
Then the carbon fibre crisis hit (world wide shortage), and we had to quarantine our supplies (we needed 1,000 square metres) to ensure we serviced our existing propeller customers. The very first production run was stopped in it's tracks.
But that is not the main reason we have discontinued production ..... the first production run is sitting in a warehouse in Hong Kong (or so it is claimed), undelivered. Why, well you need to ask the ~!@#$%^&* (insert all appropriate swear words for the low life Hong Kong / Chinese businessman who has chosen to "steal" our tooling, materials and stock). Despite repeated promises it has never been returned, and probably never will. The stories of the Chinese shafting westerners can be true, we know it firsthand. Mind you we are slowly getting our own back at the !@#$%^&*, but we won't go into that.
Not to be deterred we have CAD files or Patterns for all these products, and have rebuilt / or could rebuild the tooling to re-commence production. Indeed we have been making Heli product for OEM customers since mid 2006. However, the new product we have been working on has us very excited and is now our priority.
The below products have been suspended from manufacture and sale.
Bolly CJ-700M, (700mm Main Rotor). A hollow carbon cloth & uni ( spar), tapered chord, semi symmetrical root to symmetrical tip, RH blade. Weighing (on average) 196gm with a 57% C of G. Shaft = 5mm, 14mm throat. An excellent all round blade to suit .90 size F3C and Sports 3D flying. Awesome Auto
Bolly SR-690M, (690mm Main Rotor). A hollow carbon cloth & uni ( spar), tapered chord, fully symmetrical low drag airfoil blade. Weighing (on average) 192gm with a 57% C of G. Shaft = 5mm, 14mm throat. An excellent all round blade to suit .70 / .90 size F3C and Sports 3D flying. Great Auto
Bolly SR-600M, (600mm Main Rotor). A hollow carbon cloth ( spar), tapered chord, fully symmetrical low drag airfoil blade. Weighing (on average) 136gm with a 55% C of G. Shaft = 4mm, 12mm throat. A great all round blade to suit .50 size Sports / 3D flying. Great Auto's
Bolly SR-305M, (305mm E Main Rotor) for electric heli such as the T-Rex.
Bolly SR-280M, (280mm E Main Rotor). A hollow carbon cloth, tapered chord, fully symmetrical low drag airfoil blade. Weight (on average) is 13.5gm. Shaft = 3mm. A great performer for indoor electric Heli, such as Zap 400, Shogun, Zoom 400 and more. Winning rave reviews for performance and durability.
Bolly SR-255M, (255mm E Main Rotor). A hollow carbon cloth, tapered chord, fully symmetrical low drag airfoil blade. Very robust despite being a light 11gm (on average). Shaft = 2mm. A great performer for indoor electric Heli, such as the Hummingbird CP, Twister CP, Hornet 2 and more.
Bolly CJ-110T, (Tail Rotor 110mm). A new size for bigger petrol powered Heli.
Bolly CJ-105T, (Tail Rotor 105mm). A hollow carbon cloth, LE weighted, tapered chord blade at a stiff but light 4.6gm (on average). Suits all .90 size choppers for F3C to 3D. Highly acclaimed performer.
Bolly SR-95T, (Tail Rotor 95mm). A hollow carbon cloth, LE weighted, tapered chord blade at a stiff but super light 3.5gm (on average). Suits most .50 to some .90 size choppers for F3C to 3D. Highly acclaimed performer in testing.
Bolly CJ-90P Flybar Paddle for .90 size choppers. Looks great in a flashing hologram finish. Weighing 18.5gm (on average) it is suitable for 3D and sports F3C flying. Thread into place with a spot of epoxy.
Bolly CJ-50P Flybar Paddle for .50 size choppers.
